We thought you’d like to know that we will soon complete testing on some exciting improvements to the Bango Management Tools. Due to go live very soon, these improvements are just the latest step in our program to improve the Bango user interface. The Bango Management tools are your window onto the Bango system. It is therefore our highest priority to make these as easy to use as possible, and these latest improvements are a result of much hard work based on feedback from you.
Manage your Bango URLs
We will be making improvements to all areas of the Management Tools. However as you will spend most time managing your Bango Numbers it is in this area that you will see the first changes. We have completely revamped the page where you can manage each Bango Number. The new user interface here is a taste of what is to come in other areas of the Management Tools.
Here’s your first glimpse of the new Manage URL page, click on the thumbnail for a full view:
This page provides all of the same functionality as the existing interface, but does so in a much more intuitive and helpful way. Everything you need to do is in one place, minimising mouse-clicks. You can:
This configuration menu lays out all of the options available for that Number. The menu tells you at a glance how your Bango Number is configured. So you can see that the Bango Number in this screen shot is Free, U-rated, with Relay and Identifier switched off, and is not listed on the Bango Directory. Each item can be clicked on to bring up an edit area, here you can see ‘Charge for content’. This gives a clear summary of the options available and a clear Update button to save your changes. Detailed tooltips are provided throughout to give you useful context sensitive help and advice.
The new area is:
- easier to use
- more informative
- more intelligent (e.g. if you are entering a URL that points to an image it will check it has a valid file extension – JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG, TIF, TIFF, JPEG)
The new interface has been designed to make life easier for you by giving you the information you need when you need it. For example click on Relay under ‘Advanced features’ and you will see a very clear page which explains what Relay is, if it is available for this Number, where you can get the relay documentation and how you can upgrade your package if Relay is not available.
Add a new Bango Number
The upcoming release will also see a new much simplified ‘Add Bango Number’ interface. This page allows quick entry of only the key information required to generate a Bango URL. You will find that it makes adding Bango Numbers much quicker and more simple.
For a short handover period we will continue to offer the existing Bango Number pages as well as this new interface. If you wish you can continue to use the ‘classic’ system by clicking on the “Use the old version” link. You can then switch between the new and old versions at will.
Please feel free to chat about these improvements, give us feedback and ask questions about anything you see in these screen shots over on our forums. Once our testing is complete we will announce the new interface on this blog in the coming days.
