Some very cool enhancements have just gone live to Bango Media. This is the technology that is used when you point a Bango Number or Bango Button directly at an image URL. Users can now rotate and zoom the image and benefit from increased functionality.
- Rotate / zoom controls added
- Support for animated GIFs
- Support for web sites that don’t output MIME type headers (e.g. Myspace images).
These improvements add more functionality to Bango Media. It is now much easier for end users to handle bigger images, for example maps.
How do the rotate/zoom controls work?
When a user accesses a Bango Number (via a Bango Button, WAP.com, txt trigger, link from a CP site – anything!) which points to a picture, the preview page we show now automatically detects whether the image is the same aspect ratio as the device and, if not, shows rotate buttons below the preview, plus multiple download size links:
Clicking a rotate button rotates the preview image:
Clicking download will download a screen-size-perfect image of the preview, at the current rotation. If the original image is big enough, ”Download medium” and “Download large” links are shown too.
Can I configure rotate/zoom?
By default, we automatically show rotate/zoom controls where we think they are needed. You can override the default behaviour via a new “Pictures” section in the Properties area on bango.com, and on the Admin site. Rotate and zoom can be configured as:
- Show rotate controls – AUTO (default), YES (always show them), NO (never show them)
- Zoom options – AUTO (default), NO (never show them)
