In the coming days a new feature will be added to WAP.com which will help you promote your site virally. You will be able to include “add this site to your WAP.com favorites” links anywhere on your mobile site. When clicked, your site is added to the user’s WAP.com favorites for easy access later – and for spreading virally to other WAP.com users.
Why should I use it?
For every user that adds your site to their WAP.com favorites, many more users see will see your site as “Hot” or “Fresh”. Their WAP.com friends will even see your site as recently discovered by a friend. The more users add your site to their favourites the hotter your site gets on WAP.com. The viral spread of mobile sites is incredibly effective and you can encourage your users to promote your site for you. WAP.com gives an effective, optimized way of not only getting your customers back to your site, but the real power is in the rest of the WAP.com community discovering your site. Viral spread works.
How does it work?
When a mobile site shows an “Add to my WAP.com Favorites” link, a user clicking the link is taken to a simple page on WAP.com showing information about the content provider’s site (or piece of content) and an “Add to My Favorites” button:

If the user clicks the add button, the site or content is added to their WAP.com Favorites and they are immediately returned to your site. If they click Cancel or Back, they return to your site. If the item is already in their Favorites, they are told and offered a “continue” link.
Details of how to integrate with this feature will follow shortly. However it will be possible for you to send us a Bango Number and, for a Relay, an optional “p” and title – just like on a Bango Button. You can also specify an optional “return” URL too, so, rather than the Continue/Cancel/Back links going back to your home phrase, you can override this dynamically with any URL.
If the Bango Number has a branded WAP.com associated with it, the ‘add to favorites’ page will automatically be skinned in that brand.
In the near future, our Web Services API will be extended to allow you to check whether a user already has this site in their favorites, allowing you to only offer the add link to a user that needs to add the site to their favorites – and maybe reward the loyalty of a user who already has…
We would love to hear your feedback on this feature so let us know what you think over on the Feedback area of our forum.
